Charlotte Tilbury ‘Pillow Talk Dreams’ Review: Read This Before You Spend $58
Most brands have one standout category, and for Charlotte Tilbury, it’s definitely the eyeshadow quads. The formula is easy to work with because it’s buildable; you get enough pigment to see the color immediately, but not so much that it’s hard to blend out. The real draw, though, is the curation. The shades are chosen specifically to work together, which takes the guesswork out of creating a cohesive look
Beyond that, Charlotte Tilbury is probably best known for Pillow Talk, a whole line built around a soft, pinky, slightly romantic glow (the kind I imagine having, not the one I actually wake up with). The original shades lean pretty light, which makes them great for fair skin tones, but not always the best fit for everyone else.
That’s where Pillow Talk Dreams comes in. It maintains that signature Pillow Talk vibe but introduces deeper rose and berry tones that provide contrast for darker skin tones. I especially love how these richer pigments make brown, green, and hazel eyes pop.

The "Foolproof" Application
Charlotte Tilbury designed these quads with a specific Prime, Enhance, Smoke, and Pop sequence that takes the guesswork out of placement and blending. Here is how to get the most out of it:
- Prime (Top Left): Sweep this shimmering rose gold all over the lid.
- Enhance (Top Right): This dusky rose is your matte transition shade, perfect for blending into the crease for definition.
- Smoke (Bottom Right): Use a smudger brush to smoke this deep burgundy along the lash line or in the outer "V" of the eye for drama.
- Pop (Bottom Left): Press this sparkling pink onto the center of the lid with your finger. Using your finger instead of a brush gives you that wet-look, diamond-like finish without the fallout. Which leads me to...
A Note for Other Contact Lens Wearers
To avoid irritation with my contacts, I’ve learned to skip using a brush when applying the glittery Pop shade. Pressing the glitter directly onto the lid with my fingertip provides much better adhesion. Using a brush tends to kick up fallout, which is common for this type of sparkling finish but easily minimized or avoided with the right technique.
One Palette, Two Looks
I typically wear the "Prime" shade alone for a clean daytime look, then layer on the other shades for an evening event or dinner. Because I often wear the Prime shade on its own, I do wish Charlotte Tilbury quads were refillable as I often burn through the Prime shade quickly.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Dreams Eyeshadow Palette Wear Test
Here I am wearing all four shades in the Pillow Talk Dreams eyeshadow palette. This eyeshadow is incredibly long-lasting, looking nearly identical to this twelve hours later with zero fallout from the shimmer shades.
Quick note on eyeliner pairings: I'm wearing a dark brown eyeliner, but the Pillow Talk Dreams palette also pairs well with Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk eyeliner, which is a deep berry brown shade.
Is Pillow Talk Dreams Worth the $58 Price Tag?
This one is a "yes" for me; in fact, I’ve already repurchased it for my makeup bag. It is exceptionally flattering on brown, hazel, and green eyes, and the curated shades make the placement and blending process easy.
The formula is richly pigmented, meaning you only need a small amount of product for a high-impact look—the Smoke and Enhance shades will truly last forever. Just keep in mind that if you use Prime on its own like I do, you’ll likely hit pan on that one first!
Who might want to skip this palette?
- The Subtle Blue-Eyed Minimalist: If you have very light blue eyes and prefer a "barely there" look, these more pigmented rose and berry tones may feel a bit heavy. The original Pillow Talk offers a softer wash of color, whereas Dreams creates a much more dramatic, high-contrast effect.
- Cool-Tone Lovers: If you prefer taupes or silver-leaning shadows, Pillow Talk Dreams will likely feel too warm for your preference. This palette is designed for neutral and warm skin tones.

Pillow Talk Dreams Luxury Palette FAQs
What is the difference between Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk and Pillow Talk Dreams?
The original Pillow Talk palette features lighter, softer pink and nude shades that give a subtle wash of color, making it ideal for fair skin tones. Pillow Talk Dreams is an updated, deeper version featuring richer rose, berry, and deep burgundy tones. It provides higher contrast, making it perfect for medium-to-dark skin tones and creating more dramatic looks.
Is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Dreams good for brown or green eyes?
Yes! The warm, rich berry and rose pigments in the Pillow Talk Dreams palette are exceptionally flattering for brown, hazel, and green eyes, as these tones create a high-contrast look that makes those specific eye colors pop.
How do you apply the Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quads?
Charlotte Tilbury quads use a foolproof four-step application system:
- Prime (Top Left): Sweep this shade all over the lid.
- Enhance (Top Right): Blend this matte shade into the crease for definition.
- Smoke (Bottom Right): Apply to the lash line or outer "V" for drama.
- Pop (Bottom Left): Press this glitter shade onto the center of the lid.
How do you stop Charlotte Tilbury 'Pop' shades from falling out?
To minimize glitter fallout and irritation—especially if you wear contact lenses—apply the sparkling "Pop" shade using your fingertip instead of a makeup brush. Pressing the glitter directly onto the lid provides better adhesion and a wet-look, diamond-like finish.
Is the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Dreams palette worth the money?
At $58 for 5g of product, it is a luxury investment. However, the formula is highly pigmented and long-lasting (up to 12 hours), meaning you only need a small amount of product. However, because the pans are not refillable, you may hit the pan on your favorite base shade faster than the others.
Who should avoid the Pillow Talk Dreams palette?
You may want to skip this palette if you prefer cool-toned shadows (like taupes and silvers), as it is designed for warm and neutral undertones. It may also feel too heavy for blue-eyed minimalists who prefer a "barely there," subtle wash of color.
What eyeliner pairs best with Pillow Talk Dreams?
This palette pairs beautifully with a standard dark brown eyeliner for a classic look, or Charlotte Tilbury’s matching Pillow Talk Eyeliner (a deep berry-brown shade) for a cohesive, monochromatic eye look.
