Is Victoria Beckham's Lid Lustre Worth the Investment? A 6-Month Review

Six months and dozens of wears later, I can report on whether the Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre lives up to the hype. This is my full review, including what I wish I'd known before I bought it.

First, the details:

  • Price: $40
  • Size: 5 g / 0.17 oz
  • Key Ingredients: Squalane (for hydration) and real crystal extracts
  • Formula Claims: Dermatologist-tested, Ophthalmologist-tested, and safe for contact lens wearers

What to Know Before You Buy

I have rather deep-set eyes, so I'm always looking for ways to add brightness without looking overdone or glittery. Still, I hesitated for several months before purchasing because I wasn't sure if this pressed eyeshadow would be too sparkly, or if it would have fallout.

Thankfully, it's shimmering, not glittery, and I've experienced no fallout after wearing it several times a week for half a year now.

Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre in the Shade Honey

I've been wearing the shade Honey, described as a medium golden bronze with gold pearl, infused with Opal. As you can see in the swatch above, it strikes a good balance between gold and bronze and would be flattering on a wide range of skin tones and eye colors.

The full line comes in eight shades, and I have my eye on Tea Rose, a warm rose gold, next.

Application & Tips

I apply Lid Lustre with my fingers, though you could use a brush if you prefer more precision. I typically wear it on its own as a simple wash of color. In the photo at the top of this post, I'm wearing it with the Sarah Creal Beauty Eyes Up Eyeliner in Copper (see my full review here). I've also worn it as a pop of shimmer in the center of my lid, layered over a light matte brown for more depth.

Performance: How Does It Hold Up After Six Months?

Does it crease by the end of the day? I've worn it through full workdays, dinners, the occasional long flight. On me, it stays put without settling into a crease. I don't wear a primer underneath it either.

However, keep in mind this is impacted by several factors including your skin type, products such as eye creams, and lid shape, so your experience may be different.

Will Lid Lustre fallout and bother my contact lenses? I haven't experienced fallout with Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre, which surprised me given how shimmery it looks in the pot. Other online reviews are mixed, so your experience might be different. If this is important to you, consider applying it with your finger, and not a brush, to minimize fallout.

Does the shimmer ever look glittery or chunky? The finish stays soft and pressed rather than loose or flaky. It catches light with a sheen/shimmer, rather than looking chunky or glittery.

Has the formula changed at all with repeated use? No. The pot still applies the same way it did the first week I owned it. No drying out, no patchiness, no shift in pigment.

Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre: Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • No fallout when applied with my finger, helpful for contact lens wearers
  • Shimmer reads as soft and pressed, never glittery or loose
  • Holds up through a full day without creasing or fading
  • Versatile, wears well alone or layered over a matte shade
  • Formula has stayed consistent after six months of regular use

Cons/Considerations:

  • Single-shade pot at a luxury price, so it's an investment if you want more than one shade
  • Other users report creasing and fallout, which can depend on application, other products such as eye creams, and lid shape

FAQ: How Does Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre Compare to Other Luxury Eyeshadows?

When investing in single-shade luxury eyeshadow pots, there are a number of formulas to consider. Here is how the Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre stacks up against its closest high-end competitors:

How does Lid Lustre compare to Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise?

The primary difference is the formula texture and finish.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise is a true, water-infused liquid cream eyeshadow. It delivers a glossy, soft-focus sheen with a very dewy finish that blurs fine lines. Because it is quite emollient, it can be prone to creasing on oilier lids or deep-set eyes if not set.
  • Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre is a fine-pressed powder-to-cream hybrid. It feels denser, almost like a dry paste in the pot, and is infused with real crystal extracts for a distinct wet-look pearl finish rather than a glossy cream sheen. It offers higher immediate pigment opacity and sets down completely dry, making it significantly more crease-resistant than the Charlotte Tilbury formula without needing a primer.

How does Lid Lustre compare to Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow?

While both are luxury pressed-pigment pots, they target entirely different preferences for sparkle.

  • Hourglass Scattered Light relies on multi-dimensional, true glitter particles. It applies like a delicate, reflective veil of high-intensity sparkle. It is incredibly beautiful for a festive or evening look, but the glitter particles are distinct and can occasionally cause minor fallout.
  • Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre is a sophisticated, smooth pearl shimmer rather than a flake glitter. The particles are incredibly fine, creating a uniform metallic sheen that catches the light without looking chunky. If you want an elegant, everyday sheen that is entirely safe for sensitive eyes and contact lenses, Victoria Beckham is the smoother option.

How does Lid Lustre compare to Chantecaille Luminescent Eye Shades?

This comparison comes down to base depth versus sheer luminosity.

  • Chantecaille Luminescent Eye Shades are a unique, ultra-premium gel-powder formula housed in a traditional compact rather than a pot. They are famously sheer, designed to deposit a translucent wash of multi-tonal, pearlescent shimmer with almost no heavy base color. They excel at giving a lightweight, "lit-from-within" effect that never emphasizes skin texture.
  • Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre delivers far more density and rich pigment structural depth. While you can sheer Lid Lustre out, its formula inherently has a richer, more opaque ground color underneath the shimmer. If you want a standalone single shadow that can ground an entire eye look with rich color payoff, stick with Victoria Beckham; if you want a featherlight, ethereal wash of pure light, Chantecaille is the alternative.

The Final Verdict

I've had a great experience with the Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre, and appreciate that it can be dialed up or down. This has made it a go-to for everything from running errands to more formal looks, and it's often the only eyeshadow I've packed when traveling with a carry-on.

I'm planning to repurchase Honey when I run out (which doesn't look to be anytime soon since it's so pigmented) and can't wait to try Tea Rose.
